Happy New Year!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the Robertsons!! Heather is letting me take a crack at this blogging deal so we thought that we would say hello and give a quick update of all that has been occurring from Oklahoma.

Grandma (Mary) and Aunt Kim came out to Oklahoma for the holidays and we are so thankful that they are here. Grandma got stuck in Houston for Christmas Eve and had to spend the night in the airport, but made it to Tulsa on Christmas morning. As always, Grandma put it in perspective when she stated that there are folks that can’t be with their families so having to wait a few extra hours isn’t anything big. Aunt Kim got here on December 22 and was happy to watch Liam for a night so that Heather and I could catch a movie and a bite to eat. We had a wonderful holiday with them, sharing in Liam’s first Christmas memories. What a bonus that Liam's first Christmas was a white one!

Liam is developing quite a little personality. He is grunting, laughing, rolling over, and trying to crawl - doing all the things that babies do. I can see so much of his late grandfather (Robert) and late great uncle (Billy) in him it makes me smile knowing that their fire and love of life burns so brightly in him. We miss them both so much, but are so thankful for the time we had together and all that they have passed on to our son.

There was no shortage of gifts for Liam with the outpouring of generosity from both sides of the family. Heather and I are so appreciative of the thoughtfulness and time that everyone took to send Liam such holiday cheer. He enjoyed opening his gifts and even as young as he is, we know he is aware of how much everyone loves him. He is excited to meet everyone. Thank you to everyone for such generosity.

Heather is doing great and is a natural Mom. When she walks into the room Liam lights up. She’s got it wired. I follow her lead. Our new career moved us away from home and family and the extra sets of hands invaluable in this baby raising business. She has been a superstar, taking it all in stride and looking at the glass half full. She is the best. We really wish that the Grandparents and family were closer but we are doing really well and looking forward to a time where the distance is not so great. My new career is everything I had hoped it would be and I am finding it both challenging and rewarding.

We would also like to say welcome home to our Marine Corps friends that served overseas in both Iraq and Afghanistan. We admire their courage and appreciate the sacrifices that they and their families make for us. As we look ahead to 2010 more of our Marines will head into harm’s way to face our Nation’s enemies. We know that their training, leadership, and faith will make them successful and we eagerly await their safe return.

2009 had many life changes: Liam’s birth, selling our home in NC, moving to Oklahoma, starting a new career, purchasing a home in Oklahoma, moving twice in about 6 months, and unfortunately living 20+ hours from our families. We love Tulsa and have made friends that we know we will have forever. But we are looking forward to hopefully getting back to the East Coast in the next couple of years. I guess we will see what the plan is for us. Our philosophy is to work hard and pray for the best…..so far it has worked. We love you all and wish you the best in 2010.
