We have been waiting almost 5 years to say this...WE ARE MOVING BACK EAST!!!!! As most people know we moved to Oklahoma 5 years ago this January and we were only supposed to be here for 3 years. We were shocked when we found out we were moving so far away but looked forward to a change and living some where different. While Tulsa has been very good to us, we are thrilled to be getting back to the east coast and be right in between a lot of family. I definitely took for granted living in the same neighborhood as my parents for a few years before moving so far away. While I personally don't think we will ever live in my hometown again, I'm anxious to be able to visit whenever we want! We are pretty sure we should be in Virginia by April.
Dan is still with the same job, they are just transferring us to northern Virginia. I have to brag for a quick second about how proud I am of my husband. He set his goal on something a long time ago and he has worked so hard to achieve it. Everything he has done since he finished college has led him to where he is going. He gives everything 110% all the time, even when I know he would rather give up. "Quit" is not in Dan's vocabulary. This transfer was highly competitive and he was up against some very well qualified people. I am also so proud of how humble he has been since we got the news he was selected. I have never seen my husband stick his chest out and I'm willing to bet I never will, but darn if he shouldn't be right about now!
So some people may know I actually was born in northern Virginia and lived there until was 10 (then we moved to the Outer Banks which is where I call home). While NOVA has grown so much since I lived there I kind of have a good feeling for the area. Plus my Dad lived there for 30 some odd years and was a fireman. He knows the area like the back of his hand;) It's really nice to not be moving somewhere blind (like we did to Tulsa!). We are hoping to live in the Leesburg area perhaps or maybe Chantilly. A lot will depend on schools for Liam and Dan's commute. While I know there will be some very stressful moments that come with any major move, we are really looking forward to being back east. The east coast is just our comfort zone. That and we desperately need more salt water in our lives;)
Now onto much more serious news. I previously had a post on here about my sister n law Kim. She had her surgery this past Wednesday. They surgery could not have gone better. The surgeon had a really hard time finding the tumor because the first round of chemo and radiation worked so well. None the less Kim had a foot of her large intestine removed and several lympth nodes removed during her surgery that were sent to pathology. Yesterday we got the news that all of that was cancer free!!!! Such great news! Kim has been recovering mostly well, but she did have major surgery and it has been a process with recovery. Kim has had a very supportive care team of not only her nurses and doctors, but her Mother, Brian (boyfriend) and Dan. Dan and his Mother arrived in NC (where Kim lives) a few days before the surgery. Dan stayed for a week and then came home. Mary (my mother n law) is still in NC and she will stay with Kim as long as she needs her. We are guessing through Christmas. They have been taking shifts at the hospital so very rarely is someone not with Kim. I think it is so wonderful Kim has had her loved ones with her. There are certain things that have to happen before Kim can go home, but she is working very hard to achieve those things. We are so proud of her! I wish that Liam and I could have gone to be with her as well but I don't want to even think about the chaos of a 4 year old in a hospital while someone is recovering. I ask that people still keep Kim and her loved ones in your thoughts and prayers. She is a little more then half way through all of this. Once she has fully recovered from surgery there is still a second round of chemo. We are hoping this can all be put behind her in 6-7 more months.
