It's the end of September and finally things are starting to cool down a little here in Oklahoma. While we still have plenty of shorts kind of weather here, it's at least not 100* everyday and dipping down into the 50's some nights. I love when we can play outside and not sweat to death or feel light headed from the heat. Some people think that Oklahoma has dry heat. Well maybe the western part of the state, but most definitely not the eastern part of the state where we live. It's more humid here then what I was used to growing up on the water in NC and spending part of my summer in GA growing up. Whew does it get humid and HOT in Tulsa!!! These slightly cooler temperatures are welcome with open arms at my house. I hope that we have more then a week of fall though. Oklahoma likes to go from one extreme to the next;)
In true fall fashion around my house I had to start decorating for the weather. Now I'd love to go crazy with all the fall décor that is around these days but I keep it pretty simple because I'm always afraid we are moving. I love our home, but it's not our 'forever' home so I have no idea what kind of home décor will always be timeless in my house. A few cute pieces on my mantle and decorating the front door keeps me content. I added my finishing touches outside today after a trip to our favorite pumpkin patch. I also took advantage of todays gorgeous weather and planted all my new pansies around the front yard flower beds.
For the past five falls now we have made our way down to the Bixby Pumpkin Patch at Carmichael Farm. It's a great little farm and they have a little bit of everything for the kids. The first two years we went, Liam wanted nothing and I mean NOTHING to do with the pumpkin patch. The sight of pumpkins made that kid scream and cry, heck he made me cry too the first year. All I wanted was a cute little picture of my "pumpkin" sitting in all the pumpkins. Those first two years pictures at the patch are of Liam screaming and looking as though someone just stole his candy. Thankfully as Liam has matured he has come to realize the pumpkin patch is really a fun and exciting place. Now we have so much fun running around and exploring that we don't want to leave. Today when we went for example everything was fine until it was time to head home. Liam was carried out over his fathers shoulder since someone's legs seemed to turn to jello when it was time to go. One extreme to the other;) We found some great pumpkins and Liam helped me arrange them around the front door when we got home:) Mommy's little helper!
Below are a few quick shots at the pumpkin patch, enjoy!
