Well last weekend I flew out to Delaware to be a part of my twin brother Stevens wedding. He got "hitched" on Friday, November 4th at about 7pm. The big event was held at The Hotel Du Pont in downtown Wilmington, DE. It's a gorgeous hotel. I suggest checking it out if you are ever in that area. I got to spend some great quality time with my parents, family and one of my closest and best friends, Ashley. We had such an awesome time and it was very needed!!!
So that trip was the first time I was EVER away from Liam. Not to mention it was half way across the country from him. Liam is 26 months old now so I've gotten pretty used to him always being with me. It was a bit painful to leave him, but I knew that it would be good for both of us. Distance always makes the heart grow fonder....really it does!!! (I figured that out being married to a Marine!!!) It was a great opportunity though for Dan and Liam to bond. Not that they aren't very close but I'm the stay at home Mama who does it all. I was glad Dan got a really good taste of what my days are like. I knew they would be fine, but the worry neat freak that I am still, well... worried. The last morning I was in DE as I was eating breakfast I got a text from Dan saying that they had had an earth quake that night. AN EARTH QUAKE!!!! The first time I left my baby he had an earth quake!!! Of course I panicked but Dan assured me everything was fine and not to worry. (Little did I know over the course of the next few days once I got home we would have two more! Not too bad though...5.6 and 4.7) So I was just all the more eager to get back on a plane and get home as quickly as possible. I was so glad to be home and to be back with all my boys!
So back to Steven and Brittany's wedding. I have to be honest and say I was a ball of emotions about the entire thing. For those that know my brother know why. Mainly though, Steven is my twin. He and I have been through a lot together and have had each other literally before day one. I'm very protective of him. Like almost "Mama bear" protective of him, ok not almost....its just like that. Unfortunately due to distance and timing I had not had the opportunity to formally meet my soon to be new sister and her son Julian. We had spoken a bit on the phone, texted and emailed so I felt like I had a feel for her but some things, like first impressions, you just have to do in person. Steven and his new family were picking me up at the airport and let me just say I have never been so nervous walking out of an airport terminal in my life. As soon as I saw Steven a huge relief washed over me. The smile on his face, his big huge goofy smile, was all I needed. I knew he was happy. I knew the void he has been trying to fill in past years was full, if not over flowing. I hadn't seen that smile on Steven in years and I was so grateful to know it was still there. My new nephew almost jumped into my arms, he is only 1 so that just amazed me because I was a complete stranger to him. I was glad I got to spend the afternoon with them before heading to the hotel for the rehearsal. I really felt so relieved and was finally able to just be excited for Steven. With all that being said, I really love my new sister. I know I'm extremely hard to impress and this girl impresses me. I have to say I just love how laid back she is. She is just super easy to be around and talk to. She is very honest, even on personal topics. She is very in tuned with Steven which probably impressed me the most. I'm really pleased she is my new sister. I don't even know where to start with Julian, aka Jules. It was love at first sight with my new nephew. I just adored watching my brother with him too. Steven loves that little boy just as his own. It was really actually pretty incredible to me. I was just so happy to see what my brother has found in Britt and Jules. I'm so glad they all found each other.
So yeah, last weekend was good....no it was great! (Other then the earth quake!) I have two more wonderful people in my family and getting new family you love is a wonderful thing!!! Their wedding was amazing and beautiful. Everything was planned out so well. I was honored to be a part of their special day! Congrats to Steven, Brittany and Julian!!!!
