Well little Mr. Liam is just over 9 weeks. I can't believe he will hit double digits on Tuesday:( As most people have known, Liam has colic and right around 6 weeks was his peak of torturing us. Luckily however he has slowly but surely been getting better since then. Actually I would almost say he is close to just being as fussy as any other normal baby so we'll take it! We have had a lot going on since my last post, sorry Liam takes up so much time that I'm lacking on keeping up with this like I used to. So this past weekend my Dad and little brother Dylan were here. (aka Papa and Uncle D.) They flew in on Halloween just in time to meet Derek Jeter (Liam). Now my side of the family are unfortunately Boston fans (boo!) or Braves fans. Now let me be clear, I am first and foremost a Braves girl, but ole' Chipper Jones just doesn't cut it for me anymore, I'm a Jeter girl now:) Also not to mention Dan is a huge Yankees fan so I married into it over two years ago. I think that entitles me to not be a "ban-wagon" fan just because they won the world series this year. I cheered for them the whole way through. So back to our visitors...Papa and Uncle D were here to help hand out candy and to watch Liam wear all his cute Halloween outfits that friends and family were nice enough to get him. Also that morning Dan rain a 12K here in Tulsa called the Tulsa Run, with his partner from work. They did a great job! Liam and I met them around half way to help cheer them on before we picked up our company. So for Liam's fist Halloween he started out as Derek Jeter and then wore a series of pumpkin looking outfits. We had lots of little tricker treaters and we decided that the kids out here were all so friendly and polite. So while Papa and Uncle D were here Liam got his first shotgun/rifle combo. My Dads side of the family has always been into hunting and its no secret that Dan has a passion for bird hunting so Papa had to get Liam his first gun. Of course its going to be put away until he is old enough to tag along with his Daddy and shoot it himself. (Probably around 5 years old.) My grandfather did this for Steven so I think its pretty neat that it seems to be turning into a tradition. Papa even had a plaque made to put on it. On Monday we went to Oklahoma City to see the OKC Bombing Memorial and museum. My Dad worked on site with FEMA to help recover victims when it happened so I thought that it was really nice for him to see what a nice job they did with everything. On Wednesday morning our company had to leave which led us to Thursday...D-Day for Liam. He had to go to his 2 month well visit which meant 5 vaccines. He was 14lbs 14oz and 23.25 inches. The doctor told us that the way he stands on all his weight and how controlled he can hold his head up for such long periods of time he is equivalent to a 4 month old. WOW!!! He was all smiles until the nurse came back. His first vaccine was oral so he didn't mind that at all, then he screamed through the first two shots and then glared at us for his last two. Once Daddy picked him up and bounced him he calmed right down. What a trooper! That little guy is a lot tougher then I give him credit for. Liams other bad news was that his doctor said no more night bottles and to let him cry it out. He was waking around 12-1am and 3-4am for feedings. He told us to cut out the first feeding first and then the second. So last night was the first night and sure enough he woke up right at 12am and cried for two hours, but then slept till 5:45am. He got a bottle and then got to come cuddle with Mommy for about an hour until we really got up for the day. Doctor says it should take 2-3 nights to break him. I've been reading a book on sleep habits that a good friend got for me and its also been very helpful, it suggests waiting until they are 3-4months old to let them cry it out, but because Liam is so big he's big enough to do it. I figure just a few bad nights are worth all the good ones that are to come for all of us!
