How Many Flights/Days Does It Take To Get To NY?

How many flights/days does it take to get to New York? Apparently 3 flights and 2 days. As most people already know I flew home to North Carolina for a little over a week to visit friends and family and for the first baby shower. Unfortunately Dan was unable to join me on that trip. Dan and I were meeting up for the second half of my trip in New York to visit more friends and family and a few festivities. So I left Tulsa and flew to Norfolk with no real problems and enjoyed my week or so on the Outer Banks. Then I was supposed to fly to New York on Monday meeting Dan's flight also on Monday at JFK. Me from Norfolk, Dan from Tulsa. Dan made it with delayed flights, mine was cancelled after much delay and already being on the plane. Needless to say the crazy angry pregnant woman came out on the Delta ticket agent who endlessly tried to tell me that my flight was cancelled due to weather at JFK. Meanwhile, Dan was on a DELTA flight flying into JFK right at the same time my flight was cancelled. I asked to be flown to Atlanta or Cincinnati to catch a flight to JFK...all of those flights were full....see it was not due to weather. I will also add my family waiting at JFK informed me that the weather was clear. Imagine how frustrating this was. So I ended up in a hotel in Norfolk for the night and caught a 6:50am flight to Atlanta the following morning. I had a 45 minute layover there and then caught another flight back north to JFK. During my layover in Atlanta there was plane traffic at the terminals so our plane did not pull up and unload for to the gate until 20 minutes till my next flight. For any of you who have been to Atlanta airport I arrived at gates A and had to get to gates T. This should normally take at least 30 minutes to get to. So 7 months pregnant with a carry on I made a run for it. One pulled muscle and two swollen feet later I made it to my gate as they were closing the door. Thank goodness they let me on the plane. The Delta attendant then tried to make me sit in an emergency exit row on the plane...your not aloud to be pregnant and sit in those rows...and I'm very obviously pregnant these days. The attendant was not too happy with me when I reminded her of TSA's rules on that. So finally we got in the air and started making our trip north to New York. Around the time that we were over Delaware, we were circling over the ocean because JFK was not allowing flights to land due to once again.... the weather. The pilot came over the load speaker and also informed us that we were low on fuel and if we did not get the go ahead to land we would have to fly to Philadelphia to refuel. Through all of this I was just thinking....you have got to be kidding me!?!?! So we ended up being able to just fly into JFK...thank goodness!!! So I get off the plane and find my way down to the baggage claim. So I wait...and wait....and wait. No luggage. Now Delta has lost my luggage. You can imagine how thrilled I was. So since Dan was with me at this point I let him handle the lost baggage claim....my eyes were about to pop out of my head I was glaring at the Delta employee so hard. So when the lost or as Delta likes to call it....the "delayed" baggage claim people set up my claim for my LOST luggage they used the wrong luggage ID number. I discovered this on my own later that evening. If you have ever tried to call Delta, its all recordings. So knowing that we could never speak to an actual person, Dan and I drove back to JFK because surely at this point my luggage had to be somewhere at JFK. Luckily after getting detoured to a few places we were able to redeem my luggage. So last night we get home from Kathleen's wedding and Dan has an email from Delta....they were sorry that they were still unable to find my luggage. I think I'll just let them keep looking for it....lol. So Dan and I fly back to Tulsa on Monday on Delta....lets see how that goes.
